Sonja is a serial social entrepreneur and communications pro who is passionate about innovation, inclusion, creative economic models, urbanization and youth. She has spoken on these topics at over 30 conferences around the world, from UNHabitat’s World Urban Forum, The New Cities Summit, The Purpose City Summit, The First Global Forum on Youth Policies, Bloomberg’s CityLab. In 2012 she co-founded YouthfulCities a social enterprise leading a global movement of data-driven urban regeneration. As the Global Director of YouthfulCities,

She was responsible for engaging and activating 1000s of youth in the world’s largest cities in order to rank them from a youthful perspective. Over the course of four years she oversaw the growth and development of this initiative from its infancy to successful expansion to 55 global cities.

Sonja’s Highlights include: – Partnering with the City of Quito, Ecuador to conduct research in collaboration with their Planning Department, which resulted in the creation of a Social Innovation Lab – Establishing a client relationship with the Municipality of Brampton to conduct a youth engagement and needs assessment Survey to inform the policy direction of the City Council – Directed the YouthfulCities Global Summit, which brought together global changemakers from 50 cities – Managed a peer-to-peer market research study in 8 global cities for adidas’ global strategy team, including 400 youth researchers
